There are more than 200,000 cases of child abuse every year in Canada and the current path of treatment does not support the needs of these vulnerable children in an efficient and productive manner. Child Abuse is occurring in British Columbia, the Okanagan, Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, and Peachland.
The impacts of child abuse are devastating and long lasting. These impacts lie at the root of so many issues impacting our community every day. Mental Health issues, Addiction issues, Homelessness, Suicide, Criminal Behaviours, and Violence. Child Abuse costs Canada $21.5 Billion every year.
The Child Advocacy Centre (CAC) provides a response where the needs of the child are at the center of everything. The CAC is dedicated to Awareness, Training, Education, and Prevention, providing 1) a Strong Network of Support, 2) Emotional Support, 3) Safety and Security, and 4) Physical Wellness for vulnerable children.
The CAC is being designed to accommodate a team of highly skilled professionals who will be empowered to collaborate on cases, take actions that prevent re-victimization, and support the child's long term well being, as well as the non-offending caregivers. The goal of The CAC is to provide a centre of leadership, promoting excellence in child abuse services, research, training and education
